If you have ever suffered from a yeast
infection, you will be fully aware of how uncomfortable, itchy and
sometimes painful the condition can be. Chronic yeast infections
can have a seriously negative effect on a woman’s life as she will
be in great discomfort. When you look at preventing the infection,
many of the ways to do this take place over a long period of time,
allowing the infection to completely disappear, hopefully to never
return. You will need to undertake a lifestyle change which
includes changing your diet and any other factors which may help to
cause the infection.
Changes in Your Diet
If you find that you suffer from chronic
yeast infections, you will be in a lot of discomfort and will ant
to tray any way of preventing future attacks. One of the best ways
to start is by changing your diet with the aim of avoiding any food
which provides a favorable environment for Candida yeast to
multiply. Foods which should be avoided include: processed foods
which include white flour, white rice, sugar, vinegar and alcohol.
By making these changes to your diet, you will instantly be making
it harder for the bacteria to thrive, thus dramatically cutting
down your chances of suffering from repeated infection.
You should try to add yoghurt to your diet as
it has been proven that natural yoghurt contains acidophilus, a
good bacteria, which will help to sustain the delicate balance
required to prevent yeast infections. If however you are not a big
fan of natural yoghurt, you can take acidophilus supplements. These
are available at all local pharmacies, but you should speak to your
doctor before you begin taking them.
Is Medication the Cause and which
Medications Are the Cure?
It is well known that certain medications can
cause chronic yeast infections. Antibiotics in particular help the
yeast bacterium to thrive. If you notice that this is a side
effect, seek medical advice. However it is also possible that your
infection is not clearing up because the medication you are taking
for it is simply not strong enough. There are many remedies
available over the counter and much of the time; it is a case of
trial and error until you find the medication which works best for
you. However, if none of the over the counter medications seem to
be having a positive effect, speak to your doctor about
prescription medicine.
Yeast infections are without doubt
unpleasant, but they can also severely disrupt your life and a
chronic case could really start to get you down. There are ways to
cure, control and prevent them, but you need to get medical advice
from your doctor first.
