Taking a Vatican City Trip

With a Vatican City trip one will more than likely not be able to miss the most impressive of all churches, St. Peter's Basilica. It is the largest church ever constructed, and it is home to a huge variety of priceless artifacts that will have one staring in awe. Not only will one find the site holy because of its home to St. Peter's tomb, but a person can get lost by just admiring all of the amazing sculptures that this historical Roman church has to offer. If a person is taking a visit to this Rome City Italy, then seeing the Basilica is a must that should be on one's to-do list.

When one enters St. Peter's Basilica they might not notice that it is in the shape of a Latin cross, with the dome being in the center of the crossing. The alter, which is in the middle of this Catholic city church, is built directly above the tomb of St. Peter the Apostle, of whom the Bible states that Christ built his church upon. One unique feature of the dome of the Basilica is that Michelangelo nearly finished the drum before his death.

St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City is one of the most wonderful places to visit when one is considering a pilgrimage to this very holy sight. Going there is quite an experience, but one thing that most people would not suspect as being strictly enforced is a dress code for both men and women. No shorts or bare shoulders are allowed inside the Basilica. If one does happen to get past security, then they will be turned away by an attendant no matter how hot the day may be.

Vatican City is the place that is home to the Father of the Catholic Church. But, no matter if one is a member of the church or not, a visit to St. Peter's Basilica is a must if for nothing else but the historical art pieces. Michelangelo's Pieta is one of the works that can be viewed if a person is looking to be moved. No matter where one is at in the world, this Catholic city church can reach out to help a person who is lost in the world of chaos.
