The success rate of Lasik surgery has been improved by new methods being taken on board as a result of research. One such method is known as Wavefront technology, which gives the surgeon the chance to see and accurately record the slightest of variations in the surface of the eye, which makes the procedure that much more accurate and therefore clearer vision. The idea behind Wavefront technology was first developed by astronomers so that they could see whether their lenses had anything wrong with them. Lenses are very important for telescopes because the objects astronomers are using are literally millions of miles away. This concept was brought into the field of ophthalmology and specifically to Lasik correction surgery in Germany.  Physician Josef Bille started to use the sensor which prompted other people to try it.
