All About LCD Projectors

LCD projectors are self-contained projector units consisting of three liquid crystal display panels. The light source of LCD projectors are of high intensity.Depending on the brand, LCD projectors may be equipped with many different features, which makes choosing an LCD projector a bit more challenging.

In the process of shopping for LCD projectors you'll probably learn about other products like DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors. DLP projectors process light differently than LCD projectors.  Talking to a sales representatives and also going online will help you figure out the best choice for you. Here are a few things to think about:

In general, LCD projectors display brighter images than DLP projectors. However, LCD projectors has one major limitation: they can only be used for short periods of time because of the way the hardware is configured. You can really only use an LCD projector for 10 hours at a time. If you use an LCD projector beyond its limit of 10 hours, you will notice that the image starts to lose its quality. This gradual loss of image quality can be attributed to the heat generated by the equipment that creates the picture you are watching. If you are planning to use a projector for more than 8 or 10 hours each day, consider looking into a DLP projector instead of an LCD projector.

All About LCD Projectors

LCD projectors still do have their advantages. LCD technology is much better than the old CRT based projectors. LCD projectors have many advantages over CRT in all aspects including size, brightness and weight.

Clean the LCD projector filter regularly to make sure that your LCD projector works for a long time. LCD projectors have a sponge or cloth intake filter that must be cleaned every 100 to 300 hours of usage. Your LCD projector's life expectancy will be shorter if you neglect to clean its filter on a regular basis since your LCD projector will be more prone to overheating.

LCD projectors require professional cleaning every couple of years. This kind of cleaning is internal and is meant to remove the dust that often appear on the projected image if not removed. This kind of cleaning also lets in the air and helps cool the projector.
