Unfortunately,
despite the
importance of
eating
healthily while
pregnant, many
women simply
cannot. This
could be due to
a number of
reasons, but
most commonly
food aversions
and morning
sickness.
Once you feel
up to eating
healthily,
there are a
number of ways
to ensure that
you stick to
your diet
plans. One of
the best ways
is to ensure
that you have a
varied menu.
After all,
variety is the
spice of life
and you do not
want to find
you are getting
bored of the
same old meals
day in day out.
Try and keep
your diet full
of fruits,
vegetables and
protein as this
will make sure
that your baby
is also getting
the best diet
possible. Not
only will
eating an
assortment of
healthy food
ensure that you
do not get
bored of your
food, it will
also make sure
that your baby
is exposed to a
variety of
different
tastes early
on.
Having a
balanced diet
is important
whether you are
pregnant or
not, but is key
when you are
expecting.
There is no
reason
whatsoever to
deny yourself a
bowl of ice
cream once in a
while, but
having the
entire tub in
one seating is
overdoing
it. As
long as you are
getting the
correct amount
of nutrients,
vitamins and
minerals, the
odd indulgence
really isn’t
going to hurt
anyone.
The same goes
for cravings,
if you find you
are craving
really
unhealthy food,
indulge
yourself every
so often, but
don’t make too
much of a habit
of it otherwise
you will be
filling
yourself up on
empty calories
and that won’t
do anyone any
good.
Making
your food
look
appetizing
is as good
as making
it taste
good. You
should try
to make
your plate
look as
colorful
as
possible
and use
salad and
vegetable
to
decorate
the
plate.
Don’t even
consider
dieting when
you are
pregnant. Your
baby needs a
steady supply
of vitamins and
minerals while
it is growing
and if you
diet, you will
be denying it
essential foods
in order to
develop.
Pregnancy is
the only time
in your life
when you are
expected to put
on weight and
trying to
prevent that
weight gain
could be
damaging to
your health as
well as the
health of your
baby. You will
have plenty of
time to diet
once your baby
has been born,
but for the
nine months you
are pregnant,
don’t even
consider
it.
If
you find that
you have slowly
been getting
bored of the
food you are
eating, it is
time to
consider
altering your
diet and adding
new flavors and
ideas.
You should use
your pregnancy
as a time to
expand your
eating habits
and try things
which before
you might have
turned you nose
up at –
providing it is
healthy. You
will be very
lucky if you
have cravings
for healthy
foods and you
may even find
that you will
be trading in
your weekly
pizza for a
bowl of green
veg!
You should
always try and
have fun with
your food.
Boredom will be
sure to ruin
all of your
promises about
eating
healthily. You
could add
certain touches
such as dips
for your
vegetables.
Always take the
time to enjoy
your food and
never gulp
anything down
as this will
only lead to
heartburn –
which is
incredibly
uncomfortable.
Don’t feel
guilty if you
indulge
yourself
occasionally as
you deserve a
treat every now
and again for
the pain and
discomfort you
will no doubt
feel during
your
pregnancy.
