If you
are someone who regularly surfs
the internet, you will have
undoubtedly come across many
advertisements for online
college degrees. A lot of
people dismiss the idea of
getting one of these because
they don’t feel that they would
end up with a bona fide degree
at the end of it. In today’s
developing world, it is
essential to be open minded
about things, especially if you
want to succeed. There are many
genuine degrees available
online for people who cannot
make it to college for one
reason for another. This
being said, before you
automatically sign up to
complete an online degree, you
will need to do a fair bit of
research into the college which
is offering it as some colleges
are not accredited and
therefore the degree wouldn’t
be valid. If you are worried
about which degrees are genuine
and which are not, there is a
simple test you can carry out
and ask yourself questions in
the following order:
Accredited Online College
Degrees
The first
and most important question you
should ask is whether the
college is accredited or not.
If the degree program is
accredited by the same agency
as the college then there is no
difference whatsoever about
studying online or on campus.
If however it is not
accredited, then it really
wouldn’t be worth much at all
and therefore a big waste of
money. It is adviseable
to stay well away from degrees
which have not been
accredited.
If you
are worried about the validity
of the degree program being
offered then you should only
research degrees which are
offered by well respected and
established colleges and
universities. For example, if
you sign up for an online
degree program which is run by
a college which has been around
for many decades, the fact they
are offering online courses is
just an extension of their
services and they are keeping
up with the modern world. The
validity of the degree would
not need to be questioned as
the school is so well respected
around the country. This is not
the case for some of the
smaller online education
institutions. Many smaller
schools are set up for online
purposes only and are in it for
the money. It is much easier to
validate the reputation of an
established school than a
modern online agency.
At the
end of the day, the quality and
validity of the degree will
largely depend on which
institution you are studying
with.
