Spray skirts are designed to keep you dry while you are out in the water as well as keeping water out of the kayak. It should seal the cockpit completely and each skirt will differ according to kayak style and size. The best material for spray skirts is neoprene, although sea kayaking skirts are often made of neoprene and nylon.
