If you have a keen gardener in the family, another easy to create gift that children can make is a colourful flowerpot. Like the plate, it requires few tools and is very easy and fun to do.  All you need is a terracotta flowerpot (can be any size), colored foil candy wrappers, white glue and a paintbrush.  Paint the flowerpot with the glue, stick the flattened candy wrappers to the outside of the flowerpot and paint over each of the wrappers again with the glue. Make sure you allow the flowerpot to dry before giving it.
