How can one call it romance without the dim
candlelight? Other than using scented candles, what would you
do to enhance your home or office? Not having a candle would
prove to make life more difficult. If not for this luminescent
light form, the human race wouldn't have attained the
monumental leaps in technology. They have been a light
source for many, many years, and still serve as our backup in
case of a power failure and as a means of creating a romantic
atmosphere in a room.
You were probably unaware that, in the past,
candles were made from animal fat, berries, and ground up bugs.
Indeed they were. It was all that was accessible at that
moment. That's not a concern for us today. Most candles used in
the home are scented paraffin products, and are offered by
myriad sources, ranging from upscale retailers to your local
dollar store. You won't have to worry about your home smelling
of animal fat or ground up bugs.
Today's practice of using paraffin wax in the
creation of candles can easily be done at home. To make the
pillar candles that you enjoy, you may purchase a kit that
contains wax, wicks and scented oils. The most difficult
element in making the candles is the melting of the wax. These
methods will lead you to the creation of unique candles.
Your kit should include a wax and you will need
a double boiler to melt it. This prevents the wax from burning
or catching on fire. If you want to create a wax figurine, you
must follow these steps: pick out a mold, mix the wax that you
plan to use, pour the melted wax into the mold, and then let it
dry. Simply wait for the candle to harden once the wick is in
place. It is so very simple. Now some kits even include a
microwavable paraffin wax that can be melted for an even easier
time.
Instead of buying a lot of commercially
produced home decor or scented candles, why not make your own.
A lot of candle making kits are easy to use these days . All
you have to do is melt the wax, put the wick in and make sure
it dries. You can create your homemade candles using any of a
number of available decorative molds, or simply rinse out and
put your empty milk cartons to work. Decorative holders will
showcase your product. Plus, nearly everyone you know would
probably love to receive a homemade candle as a wedding,
anniversary, of birthday gift.
OPI Classics
Average Customer Rating: 4.5 Review (rating: 5): This OPI polish color goes on smoothly. It looks like espresso(tan/khaki brown) in the bottle and on the nail itself it looks like a nice taupe. It's perfect for those that want iridescent pearl-ish coating w/o added attention! Great buy!
Votivo Aromatic Poured Candle 50 Hours
Average Customer Rating: 4.0 Review (rating: 5): These are great candles with long burn time, wonderful fragrance, and neat boxes...the new Color Collection has even better-looking boxes along with color container for each scent. Can't go wrong with either type but these are not bargain-buy priced...look at them as aromatherapy and enjoy!
Votivo Aromatic Candle
Average Customer Rating: 4.5 Review (rating: 3): These candles smell wonderful, but if I sit next to one for too long, they give me a headache. I'm giving mine away to friends with stronger brains.
