Types of Air Freight Options

Freight shipments cover the largest cargoes in the industry. Sipment companies like FedEx Express, UPS and DHL carry such transports.

Because of the inevitable changes, occur around the world, the demand to quickly send and receive different items across numerous nations, the airline industry has birthed a new way of shipment- air freight.

Air freights are cargoes on the shipment; we usually typify them into various categories to construct transportation more organized and easier. Some primary bases of categorizing air freight are:

§ Type of the item
§ How hefty is the item, items in the cargo and size, and,
§ Days or hours it takes one delivery to arrive on its pointed destination.

On the other hand, we categorize shipments into the following:

Types of Air Freight OptionsHousehold goods include art pieces, furniture and other related items, which are primarily, transported applying Household Goods (HHG) carriers such as North American Van Lines and Bekins.

The "Express" classes, on the other hand, contain individual items and small business goods, we often consider this class as overnight shipment (or express shipment, express letters and overnight express). Shipment companies like FedEx Express, UPS and DHL carry such transports.

Since most items falling under this group are minor and do not normally weigh heavier than a couple of pounds, they often come in the carrier's own packaging.

Service levels change depending on the discreet service offered by the carrier or the personal choice of the shipper. These normally travel by air; cargo firms deliver on the express day then send it to the carrier or may take several days of trip.

We consider packages that are slightly larger and heavier than express items as parcels. These cover boxes of transits, regardless of the content. Carriers like UPS and FedEx Ground provide the services for such cargoes. Parcels cover most of the business-to-consumer items and services and do not often exceed 100 pound-weight group. Since these are small, they often come on the shipper's or carriers own packaging.

Types of services on this group also vary. However, ground shipping can travel for 500 to 700 miles a day in around 3 to four days, depending on the offer gave by the shipper or the service preference the consumer chose. Such shipments do not often travel by air, instead they move through road and rail.

Freight shipments cover the largest cargoes in the industry. We subdivide it into two major categories, LTL of Larger-than-truckload freight and TL or truckload freight.

Less-than-truckload shipments are also known as motor freights. These often cover the bulk of business-to-business transactions. Services differ from carrying 100-pound items up to those not exceeding 15 000 pounds. Since LTL trailers are just as long as 28 inches, most air freights of this type cannot exceed this length.

Unlike with tinier packages, shipments do not often come in company packaging.

Truckload freight covers larger shipments from 15 000 pounds to 40 000 pounds with a maximum length of 53 inches. Such air freight differs from all other categories, since these do not normally stop along the movement and not intermingle with other shipments. Shipment brokers and online marketplaces frequently arrange most.

When availing such air freight, it is best that one knows that in top all the words contained involving the claims, pricing and insurance.
