Body Wash for Acne: Which One Is Best for You?

Contrary to what many might think, acne is a condition that is not limited to the face. There is indeed such a thing as body acne. While people with body acne are usually also the ones who suffer from facial acne, it is possible to have one without the other.

Sometimes there are no sufficient explanations for the condition, as in the case of facial acne. What is clear is that acne grow in areas where there is excess bacteria, which is why some cleansers are formulated as antibacterial solutions, and which is also why sweating and the wearing of tight-fitting clothes have come to be associated with breakouts in the body.

Body washes claiming to combat acne usually work by unclogging pores and removing dirt from the skin. Here we consider a few well-known brands. Remember that individual reactions to skin treatments vary from person to person, so it is not advisable to recommend one brand for everybody. You’ll have to find out for yourself which product is best for you.

One of the more popular of these is the Neutrogena Body Clear Acne Body Wash. Its active ingredient, salicylic acid, is formulated at 2%, making it a relatively mild skin treatment. It is applied to the neck, the nape, shoulders, chest, back and other parts of the body prone to acne growth.

Another widely used acne body wash is the Phisoderm Clear Confidence Acne Body Wash, which also contains Salicylic Acid. Vitamin E and aloe vera extract make it a moisturizing and soothing skin lather as well.

Salicylic Acid is at the lower dose of 1% in the Murad Acne Body Wash. This product boasts of a triple-action formula that, besides cleansing and exfoliating, also has therapeutic effects on the skin. It should not be used in areas where topical acne medication has been applied, otherwise dryness and irritation may result.

There are a few things to keep in mind in your search for the right acne body wash. One of these is that salicylic acid has a tendency to dry the skin, making the subsequent use of a moisturizer an action you might have to take. The other is that there are other ways besides using special body washes to prevent or control acne outbreaks. This includes eating a diet that consists of plenty of fruits, leafy greens and other vegetables, as well as fish.

Phisoderm seems to be most effective for acne control. Many reported substantial improvement after the few initial applications, and, with continued use, 90% of the body acne has vanished.
