The Thing About Miniature Golf in Las Vegas

If you are an avid fan of golf, you would also have a great time trying out miniature golf. It may also be known for its other wacky names such as goofy golf or crazy golf, but it is always a fun and enjoyable game to follow. Imagine miniaturizing a golf course and putting a more creative and unique traps and obstacles in between holes and you have for yourself an idea on what miniature golf is.

Miniature golf is a game modeled after the sport of golf. Just like in golf, the courses are commonly nine or eighteen holes in all. The object, just like in golf, is to hit the golf ball into the appropriate hole in the fewest number of strokes latent. However, in miniature golf, the holes are shorter and consist of only a putting surface for play. The game is made challenging by a unique arrangement of obstacles, ramps, and bunkers that one cannot find in any golf course. It is a popular pastime in many areas of the world, especially as an enjoyable pastime among families.

The first miniature golf course had its origins traced back to the Ladies' Putting Club of St. Andrews, Scotland. It was where the first miniature golf course was formed in 1867. This was due to the fact that it was unacceptable then for women to swing a golf club foregone their shoulders. In order for the women to enjoy their own type of the golf game, a miniature version of regulation golf was adapted for women to play.

Miniature golf began its rise to popularity in the late 1910s and early 1920s as a way for number one golf fanatics to imitate major golf courses

Thomas McCulloch Fairbairn, a golf fanatic, revolutionized the miniature game in 1922 with his formulation of a suitable artificial green that made it latent to create the miniature courses wherever space provides for it. It is with this discovery that miniature golf became accessible and enjoyed everywhere. With this surge of popularity, over 150 rooftop courses in New York City alone were created by the late 1920's.

Miniature golf can also be played at a highly competitive level in the United States and all around the world. In the US, there are two organizations that offer tournaments at the professional level. The Professional Putters Association holds miniature tournaments at Putt - Putt Golf Courses. The US Pro Mini - Golf Association also has tournaments. Around the world, especially in Europe, professional level miniature golf is also very popular.

Here in Las Vegas, miniature golf in often played for pain rather than professionally. The miniature golf courses found in Las Vegas cater to families and other groups who look for an enjoyable way to spend their vacation other than just spending it at casinos. There are a lot of miniature golf courses available that offers the vacationer with different choices for playing a round or two of golf of the miniature kind.
